At The Fluency Project, we view language learning uniquely. This isn’t about memorizing grammar rules or chasing perfection—it’s about transforming how you think, embracing every stumble, and discovering the incredible potential you’ve had all along.
Twice a week, we bridge the gap between inspiration and action by bringing you real conversations with educators, polyglots, and lifelong learners. These aren’t theoretical lectures; these are people who’ve walked the path you’re on, sharing exactly what worked (and what didn’t) so you can apply their hard-won wisdom to your own journey.
Whether you’re learning to connect with your heritage, advance your career, or simply prove to yourself that you can, we’re here to help you turn “I wish I could” into “I did.”
Our mission is simple: to empower you with practical tools, transformative mindset shifts, and real-world stories that make fluency feel achievable, no matter your age, background, or schedule.
The Fluency Project was born in 2025 from a simple but powerful realization: language isn’t just about words—it’s about belonging, opportunity, and unlocking human potential.
As David Herrera completed his MBA in Marketing at the University of Denver, he and his wife Diana Ortiz—an accomplished English, Spanish, and French teacher—began reflecting on their own journey as Colombian immigrants in the U.S. They understood deeply how English opened doors in their new home, while Spanish remained the heartbeat connecting them to their roots.
But they noticed something troubling. Too many language learners were stuck studying grammar rules and memorizing phrases, never actually reaching the fluency that changes lives. Where were the real-world strategies? The inspiring stories of people like them who have done it? The practical tools to bridge the gap between learning and living a language?
So they created what they wished had existed. The Fluency Project Podcast became a platform where polyglots, educators, and everyday learners share not just what worked, but how it felt to struggle, persist, and ultimately succeed. Every episode carries their founding belief: fluency isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, embracing the mess, and discovering just how much you’re capable of.
